The US bond market is in major trouble today. Just hours after President Trump's "10-day pause" of strikes on Iranian power plants, yields are at their highest level of the Iran War yet. The 10Y Note Yield is up to 4.47% with mortgage rates hitting fresh 7-month highs. In less than one month, markets have gone from discussing rate cuts to rate hikes, with the base case showing a Fed PAUSE for the next 18 months. Keep in mind, the Fed was cutting interest rates because the labor market was weak, and it remains weak. However, inflation expectations have just become an even bigger problem than the labor market. This is objectively unsustainable.

@KobeissiLetter We’re living in a constant news cycle 🔄, where uncertainty is always in the background. Even as narratives shift hour by hour, one thing remains constant- oil prices have climbed and are holding in the $80–$90 range.

At 4:11 PM ET, President Trump extended his “pause” of US strikes on Iranian power plants and oil prices fell -6%. 40 minutes later, that entire decline was erased. Markets are becoming numb to the headlines.

This is absolutely insane: At 7:04 AM ET today, President Trump said “the US and Iran have had productive discussions" to end the Iran War. By 7:10 AM ET, the S&P 500 surged +240 points adding +$2 TRILLION in market cap. 27 minutes later, Iran completely denied all of President Trump's claims and said there has been "no contact" with the US. By 8:00 AM ET. the S&P 500 had fallen -120 points erasing -$1 trillion in market cap. That's a $3 TRILLION swing market cap in 56 minutes, just in the S&P 500. What is happening here?
