The Israeli military carried out a large, unannounced training exercise called “Sulfur and Fire” along the Jordan border. Soldiers practiced real-life threats like terror groups sneaking across the border, drone attacks from the sky, and even a hostage situation at a hotel by the Dead Sea. Video from the drill shows helicopters dropping troops, soldiers moving quickly around parked cars and hotel buildings, and commanders giving orders in a busy control room. Jets and helicopters also carried out practice strikes to make the training as real as possible.
What makes the drill stand out is the speed and size. Reserves from two divisions rushed in at full strength, 100% turnout. The exercise used lessons from past attacks to test how fast troops can respond to several dangers at once. Israeli officials say the goal is simple: stay ready so no surprise can catch them off guard.
This show of strength comes as tensions stay high in the region. The same day, reports showed the US Navy continuing to block ships trying to reach Iranian ports near the Strait of Hormuz. Together, the stories paint a picture of two strong militaries staying on high alert in the Middle East. The IDF says it is “staying locked in” and prepared for whatever comes next.
