@GuidoCrosetto

This Mother’s Day, I’m thinking about my mom, and all the lessons she taught me. I'm proud to honor her memory with the Ann Dunham Water Terrace at the Obama Presidential Center.

💪🧐Giorgia Meloni — a woman who has challenged a world that has gone off the rails. Today, we increasingly see how the whims of individual dictators and aging leaders lead to hundreds of thousands of innocent victims. And the worst part is that among modern democratic leaders, very few are willing not only to challenge them, but even to call them out. But there are a few who are not afraid to stand up for the truth. One of them is Giorgia Meloni. In just the past month, her actions and statements have made so much noise that they’ve dominated the front pages of major newspapers: 🔹 Italy deported the controversial Pakistani-born imam Ali Kashif, who openly claimed that Muslims have the “right” to marry 9-year-old girls. The next day, he woke up at an airport in Pakistan. 🔹 She openly confronted Donald Trump over his offensive remarks about the Pope. She clearly stated the obvious: the Pope, as the spiritual leader of Catholics, has a natural right to call for peace and condemn war — it’s not a political position, but a moral duty. 🔹 Recently, it was Vladimir Solovyov’s turn. He apparently thought he could peacefully relax in his five villas in Italy while simultaneously attacking Meloni. But he miscalculated — badly. Meloni doesn’t play games with people like that for long. Now a “pleasant surprise” is already waiting for him. 🔹 Moreover, just a week ago, Meloni stood up for Ukrainians who were being pushed out of a peaceful march in Italy. According to the Prime Minister, during the April 25 demonstrations there were “attacks on those holding the Ukrainian flag” — a symbol of a people “fighting for their freedom against an aggressor.” She sharply condemned those who drove Ukrainians away. 🔹 And even earlier, she clearly stated: “Chaos in the world is a direct consequence of Russia’s attack on Ukraine.” The Italian Prime Minister explained that the situation in the Middle East is a result of the erosion of international law. According to her, the crack in the global security system appeared precisely when Russia, despite being a permanent member of the UN Security Council, disregarded the borders of a sovereign state — once again standing in defense of Ukraine. And this is only part of Meloni’s statements that have made headlines recently. She now has more enemies, but also more supporters, because when such atrocities are happening in the world, silence is not an option. And importantly, Meloni consistently and firmly supports Ukraine — which makes me respect her even more. Today, the world needs not diplomatic euphemisms, but honesty and principles. Only by calling things by their proper names can we stop the chaos and restore respect for international law.

🇨🇦 GEN. CARIGNAN: Our Ukrainian partners offer us incredible role model in terms of innovation, creativity, combativeness, fighting spirit, endurance, and courage. Canada has lot to learn from current Ukrainian fight. It's very important to us that Ukrainians succeed in their fight, whether it's idea of democracy, freedom, or security of Europe, which is important to Canada because we see Russia from our northern border. We are also mindful of their time. Ukrainians are in the middle of the fight, but they are incredibly generous in sharing their lessons. So, there's an incredible amount of lessons we're learning from our Ukrainian partners. And we want to integrate that into our system and our way of operating, as part of our own transformation.

I miss Barack Obama as President! I am deeply grateful we elected @MarkJCarney as Prime Minister. Americans voted for a felon but Canada got it right. We chose a leader that will keep democracy alive & hopefully keep his morals, values, ethics and integrity intact. 🇨🇦❤️
