Supply and demand applies with housing as it currently exists. But housing is therefore built to maximize profit for building it, not for maximizing the number of people housed. Plentiful housing would mean it costs less and therefore it isn't worth making it be plentiful.

@BritishTaiga @esjesjesj Nah the Leftoid story is that supply/demand doesn't apply to housing, and that building more homes in fact doesn't lead to homes being more plentiful. I am not joking, this is actually a central tenet within progressive circles (particularly degrowth progressives)
