@catapinacaro @CincinnatiZoo People always ask me why I never eat tilapia…it’s because Cincinnati zoo has educated me on their diet…and I can’t…

Kim Rhodes tells @People why she doesn’t keep in touch with her ‘Suite Life of Zack & Cody” co-stars: “I am aware of everything they're doing, but I never want them to feel like I'm an obligation…I love watching them launch into who they are, but I don't expect them to necessarily reciprocate.”

@sonohoor Let me add another one in for you…your body producing too much spinal fluid putting unnecessary pressure on your brain and optic nerves 😳

@EliMcCann I have to give my dog insulin shots…she stays in a perpetual state of looking at me like I shot her entire family…but hot dogs help

@OneNerdyOpinion I used to call my dogs weaving back and forth their drunk toddler moments. Glad spike is feeling better

@EliMcCann One day, he shall throw the ball and it will be the best day ever…until the next day when he throws it again…

@OneNerdyOpinion As you should be…that’s mine and Nellie girls plan for the weekend…(she’s really good at sleepy weekends)

@OneNerdyOpinion Be careful as he starts to feel better. One of my pups had it done and I swear, after she started feeling better, anytime I turned by back, she found a way to get on the furniture before she was cleared to do so…i finally had to institute “couch time” so she’d stop.

We’re home now. Spike has a laser treatment on Thursday which helps with the healing. Then we have a follow up next Tuesday to check the surgery site. Then the following week he will get his sutures out.
Gameplan for the first week is I hold his back end up with a towel under his hips for any steps(curbs, changes in elevation). Second week I hold the towel loosely ready to catch. The vet thought he’d be back to putting weight on the leg by then.
Here are pictures from right after I got in to see him. He was crying and a bit of a pain for the vet staff but quieted down as soon as he saw me.

@OneNerdyOpinion Depending on how big the pill is…hot dogs. My girl gets her trazadone shoved in the end of a piece of hot dog twice a day. The key is to have it ready and feed a few pieces if the hotdog with no medicine to get him excited and then give the pill between no pill pieces

I’m overwhelmed.
Some backstory. Both of my parents grew up in Midwestern farm families. If you’ve never met a Midwestern farmer, they are a proud stubborn folk. For most of them the only thing worse than asking for help, would be getting that help. They’re also some of the most kind-hearted people you could ever hope to meet. I think a line from The Music Man, while written about Iowans, really applies to the whole Midwest. “We’ll give you the shirt off our back, and a back to go with it.”
I was raised in a way where you never ask for help, but if someone needed help, by god you help them. And in my life I’ve needed that help before. In high school we had a house fire. Our friends and neighbors rallied around us and made sure we were taken care of. They held a benefit to get us back on our feet. And there’s one moment from that night I’ll never forget. They’d held a 50/50 raffle and the winner was my dad’s first boss. He took those winnings and put them right back in the donation box. It was the first time I’d ever seen my dad get emotional.
All of this to say, I’m overwhelmed. I’m overwhelmed with how generous everyone has been. I’m overwhelmed the number of people who have shared the page and left words of encouragement. I’m just overwhelmed. Thanks to you I’ll be able to get my best buddy of the last 9 and change years the care he needs. There is no way I can ever say thank you enough for this. I’ll use some of the funds to build more of a safety net so that we are better prepared for things like this going forward, but I intend to follow in the footsteps of these Midwesterners I’ve grown up around, and pay it forward with the excess.
Again, from the bottom of my heart,
Thank You.
Matt

@OneNerdyOpinion With bladder stones, he will likely be put on a special diet. Order from chewy. All my past three dogs have been on prescription food and it is costly. Chewy delivers within a day with auto ship. Vet price is about 65$ more a month!
English

Spike update: just got off the phone with the vet. I go to pick him up in 3 hours since he’s coming out of sedation.
He has signs of patellar luxation and arthritis but they couldn’t rule out an acl tear.
They also found bladder stones while they were checking him out. We’re going to discus what that means when I go get him.
English

@OneNerdyOpinion Love on him, keep an eye on it and get him medical help if he still seems to be favoring it after a few days, pups are resilient!
English

@OneNerdyOpinion I appreciate how great of a dog parent and human you are! As for advice, encourage rest of the limb. Think about it as a human, even have those days when you stand up wrong or step funny and you got an ache you didn’t before? Dogs get the same 😊
English

@OneNerdyOpinion My gal got breakfast in bed yesterday (aka we were at my parents house, she was too interested in cuddling after a week apart and she’s diabetic so I need her to eat in a timely manner)! You to what you gotta do to show them love 💕
