Story time: Father has two sons. Similar age. He loves them both equally. So he gifts them $50k each as a "I love you, but please don't fuck this up" gift. Both sons love stocks and investments and finance. So they decide to dabble into stocks. Cause why not? Son 1 says look I'm going to invest this across several index funds like the S&P500 and Nasdaq-100 and even the Dow Jones because let's be real, 95% of the times people can't beat the benchmarks. So why should I bother? Plus 100% of the times I don't have to deal with stress. Son 2 says look I'm going to be active because I'm a wizard and I read up on these books and watched all these youtube videos. I signed up on these furu's discords. I got this. I'm going to daytrade myself to 2x or 3x or 5x more returns than you brother! mwuahah. Watch me. 10 years later.... Son 1: +300%, no stress, little to no commissions, long term capital gains tax. Living the life. Has a beautiful wife and child. Son 2: +17%, has to take high blood pressure meds, paid out $30k+ in total commissions, deal with short term cap gains tax every year. Face aged like 10 year old milk, still single. But always thinks the "next trade is the one I'll make it big, right?!"
