Hartford Line Alert Service for Route #Amtrak 488: Amtrak Hartford Line Train Amtrak 488 is expected to exceed capacity. Additional bus service by Dattco is being provided as alternative transportation for customers unable to board the train. There will be two buses provided.

@betsyplum @dmtrubman @CityAndStateNY Transit “experts” always pitch fare equity as a waste of monies which could be used to shorten headways, expand service times, or add rapid transit corridors. We should do ALL those things AND fare equity. Make the bus free for those who need it and BETTER for everyone.

@dmtrubman @CityAndStateNY The question I’d put to this is why necessarily jump to a scarcity mindset? Why not create new revenues that can follow from the model of congestion relief and begin pricing precious use of our public space that is far less for the common good than riding the bus. Like parking!

Argument for fareless transit implicitly assumes American cities are incapable of developing even minimal state capacity to do basic tasks like ensuring riders pay their required fare. Maybe that's true! But that would seem to make the rest of Mamdani's agenda impossible too.
