Central Silk Board Ministry of Textiles
On 16.03.2026, Ministry of Textile delegation comprising of Officials of the Central Silk Board (CSB), visited the Silkworm Museum, Hangzhou, China, where large-scale contract silkworm rearing & advanced farming practices were demonstrated. Discussions were held with Mr. Zingu, Chairman, International Sericulture Union, on enhancing India-China cooperation, particularly, in the area of advanced sericulture machinery & technology exchange. Textiles Committee, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India organised a Roadshow on the Textile Export Facilitation Centre (TEFC) and a Stakeholders’ Consultation Meeting at Surat on 16 March 2026. The programme was graced by Smt. Vrunda Manohar Desai, IRS, Textile Commissioner, Government of India, Mumbai as the Chief Guest. Shri Nikhil K. Madrasi, President, Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry; Shri Shaleen Toshniwal, Chairman, MATEXIL; and Shri Ashok V. Jirawala, Vice President, Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry addressed the gathering as Guests of Honour. Shri Jayadratha Devbarman, Director, Textiles Committee welcomed the participants. Shri Kartikay Dhanda, Secretary, Textiles Committee delivered the keynote address highlighting the role of TEFC in supporting textile exporters, particularly MSMEs, while Shri R. Chandran, Joint Director presented the objectives and services offered by the Centre. The stakeholders’ consultation session provided an interactive platform for exporters, manufacturers, and industry representatives to engage with officials of the Textiles Committee. The programme witnessed participation from around 180 exporters, manufacturers, and industry stakeholders, who benefited from the roadshow and discussions. The enhanced portal is designed to provide a more efficient, transparent, and user-friendly mechanism for grievance redressal, ensuring quicker resolution and improved accessibility for stakeholders.

A delegation comprising representatives from Indian businesses in the silk and handloom sectors, along with officials from the Ministry of Textiles, Central Silk Board, Handloom Export Promotion Council and the Department of Sericulture, Meghalaya, participated in the “Unveiling Indian Silk – Craftsmanship and Heritage Buyer–Seller Meet” held on 15 March 2026 at the Consulate General of India Guangzhou in Guangzhou. The interaction saw participation from the Guangzhou Cocoon and Silk Industry Association along with representatives from several silk sector businesses in China. In continuation of the Chintan Shivir held under the chairpersonship of Neelam Shami Rao, Secretary (Textiles), at Nagpur, Maharashtra on 14th March 2026, Smt. Padmini Singla, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, along with Shri Lalit Kumar Gupta, CMD, Cotton Corporation of India, visited the experimental fields of Central Institute for Cotton Research (CICR). During the visit, they reviewed ongoing field trials on innovative cotton cultivation practices, including the High Density Planting System and the use of Biochar. The demonstrations showcased advanced agronomic techniques aimed at improving cotton productivity, enhancing soil health, and promoting sustainable farming practices for the benefit of cotton growers.
