Hezbollah in Lebanon refuses to disarm. The State of Lebanon has no ability to execute its own resolutions (disbanding Hezbollah, expelling the Iranian ambassador). In the absence of the state, the only way to achieve justice is through a balance of terror. Non-Shia Lebanese will start arming themselves. Even though eyes will be on the Christian Lebanese Forces Party and maybe the Druze of Walid Jumblatt, these are spent forces with a weak regional sponsor (Saudi). In the coming years, Turkey and Syria’s Sharaa will sponsor the rise of Sunni jihadi militias, and these will take on Hezbollah. Civil war is coming back, and the State of Lebanon (Christians and Druze) will be the biggest losers and will have only themselves to blame for thinking they could buy their safety by lowering their heads and hoping things will pass.
