Great to see Niamh Mchugh presenting the incredible work she, @RochelleEmbling and others in the fantastic R&E team carried out last summer on young people vaping A model for getting high quality evidence on a complex and rapidly emerging health issue

@robinjaymorgan @LittleWander @GleeClubCardiff My daughter (14ys 7 months at the time) loved 'Snip snip ...' - had you not considered material about your GCSEs might appeal to people doing their GCSEs?

@ceritheviking @chris_cymru @PHWOAT In UK and esp Wales, you really want to be looking at diffs in healthy LE. Diffs of 20+ years between best and worse off in lots of places

@ceritheviking @chris_cymru @PHWOAT You won't find the same gaps in LE for UK/Wales as in US. opioid crisis and guns account for big part of difference, because they kill younger people, so disproportionate impact on LE. .

Thinking about some of those great public health reads, what would make it onto your PH must read list? A couple of my recommendations to get us started: The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Mountains beyond Mountains: The quest of Dr Paul Farmer & Spillover

@benj_barr2 @davidjbuck Also, in planning recalculation of economic costs of smoking in Wales, interesting to think how benefits accrue to individuals (longer life, so extra pension payments), taxpayers (less exp treatment), companies (less sickness absence).... Which we report as a single Big Figure

@davidjbuck I’m not sure there’s a consistently understandable way to put a monetary value on human life. Why not quantify everything (economic policy , infrastructure etc) in terms of marginal impact on quantity and quality of life?

@benj_barr2 @davidjbuck Isn't this Sean's critique of utility that leads to capabilities approach? Or is that a different angle?

@petticrewmark @felly500 My first album was The Frenz Experiment off the back of repeated plays of their cover of 'Victoria'. An fascinating journey into music that otherwise sounded very little like the kinks, or much else on 1980s radio Ulster

One thing largely unnoticed in Labour’s manifesto: it will give public bodies a legal duty to reduce inequality (by enacting the socio-economic duty in the 2010 Equality Act for the first time).

@culturaltutor Not on the scale of the corporate megaliths, but Belfast has Ireland's oldest stadium (1890) with the finest name of any - Solitude, home of Cliftonville FC

This wave of modernisation is surely for the best, but it's hard not to be nostalgic for the iconic stadiums of old that are now being demolished, renovated, or left behind. Still, all these new and futuristic stadiums will be old one day — and, in time, may even become iconic.

In 1872 the first international football match was held at a cricket ground with 4,000 fans. 78 years later, during the 1950 World Cup, nearly 200,000 people watched Brazil play Uruguay at the Maracanã. This is the story of how football stadiums have evolved...

@Jeglpang A hunch, but I wonder if analytics is a victim of its own success 'data' and 'analytics' so frequently linked with 'strategy' do people feel only those on the heights of Olympus have permission to engage? 📈📉 = ⛰️?

@derekwalmsley Was at a conference last year at the old Broadcasting House just to the left of that shot and it's genuinely remarkable (still behind pedestrianisation of N side of Trafalgar Sq imho)

Has any bit of London been quite so comprehensively transformed by pedestrianisation as this bit of Strand?
