Here we go again, Marketing nonsense with no respect for history. Adidas talking of issuing a 4th kit to mark the 125th Anniversary of the ‘Rebrand to Red white and Black’, plus there’s more talk of a Green (Possibly Goalkeeper) Kit as a Homage to the club’s ‘Roots’. Both to be used only in Cup Matches. The earliest playing kits that Newton Heath are definitely known to have played in were Red, white and Black. So it wasn’t a rebrand, it was a return to their traditional colours. But this also prompts the question why a green edition? They were colours only used 1894-1896, 16 years after the formation of the football club, so it’s hardly a homage to its ‘roots’.
