Rycroft's birthday is on Thursday. He would have been 2 years old.
On the day we will be going back to Colchester Hospital, where Ry spent so much of his short life to make our first donation.

My way of dealing with Ry's intense routine - schedule.
Always always always the publicist - ruled by the schedule.

In order to space the feeds as widely as possible, the schedule became pretty intense. Catherine and I were pretty zombified at times. We’re well aware that some families are on a schedule like this right now and have been and will be for years.

Even at 4 months old, Ry worked out very quickly how to flick or tug his NG tube out. If you'd told me, two years ago, that I would be trained to insert a 60cm tube down my child's nose and into his stomach umpteen times a day I would have run a mile. But I did. He needed it.

@andrewfoster101 insisted on delivering the eulogy at Rycroft's funeral. People tried to talk him out of it, myself included. But he felt so strongly that it needed to be him - to sum up our little boy and what he meant to so many in his short life.

Rycroft and Jumble - best friends forever 💙
Jum was always very protective over Ry. It's probably a cliché but we think she knew when he was gone as she was very subdued in the weeks that followed his death. They were only 3 months apart in age, and had a very special bond.

When we think of Rycroft, we feel sadness but we do not feel despair.
We feel hope.
