The size of this house was the same as 5 three bed semis (average house size is 1100 sq ft.) This was 6000 sq ft. Because it had no planning, they couldn't have possibly gotten any lending on it. So they would have had to use their own cash. Cost of construction on a house this size is over 1 million euros. I don't believe millionaires should choose which laws they obey.

They only need temp visas to get mortgage approvals, if this loophole was closed, house prices would drop immediately as supply would be more than enough. Essentially you only need to be in Ireland for 6 months in order to qualify for this.
