When going through grief (as I am currently), it’s important to have a creative practice to turn to. It can help you process your complicated and ever-shifting emotions. Journaling, painting, coloring, dance, music...whatever works.

Don’t know about where you are, but it’s cold and rainy here today. A great day to create some warming comfort foods. Cooking and baking are creative pursuits, too. And they have mental benefits just like painting and music and drawing. Try it!

Today, I’d like you to take a walk. Don’t listen to anything but your surroundings. As you walk, find a few objects which speak to you. Take them home and make art from them. Write about why you chose them. This is a good practice for becoming more present.

Take some time today just for you. Sit in silence. Drink tea. Draw. Paint. Write. Dance. Sing. Take a hot bath. Make music. Whatever recharges you, do that. We are not made to go, go, go endlessly.

Feeling stuck? Put on your favorite music and dance! Movement helps release stagnant energy and makes you feel better. Your body was made to move. But movement with love and joy is particularly helpful.
