A 9th century poem by Rabanum Maurus. The grid is a complete poem, while the cross and body of the praying Rabanum contain stand-alone phrases. The green text on Rabanum's body reads (in Latin): 'Christ, o pious and merciful in your judgment, keep me, Rabanus, I pray, safe'.

The first day of my Kickstarter campaign has been plagued with bots making fake pledges, apparently the latest form of phishing for personal data. Please check the campaign out at kickstarter.com/projects/endan… and, if you are in a position to do so, make a genuine pledge!

UNESCO has declared 9th February World Greek Language Day (building on the national day), which seems like a good day to share my recently published open access article: "Mount Hymettos, Athens: A holy place for writing", EGI vol. 1. journals.wisethorough.com/index.php/EGI/…

Spotted this unusual sign on the coffin of Nakhtefmut at @FitzMuseum_UK’s Made in Ancient Egypt exhibition. The “𓍋”(ꜣb) in the name Abydos is given a double feather crown, a headband, and a patch of land to form “𓈽” (tꜣ-wr), the name of the nome in which Abydos was located.
