Team India was guilty of too much rotation in selection before 2019 world cup as well. But they had may be 8 out of 11 positions sorted and were experimenting with the rest. Also they were still winning. A lot. For 2027 we haven't frozen even half the side yet and we keep losing.

@mahektetweet More so for spinners coz odd days pe maar padma is normal. Of course you can't do it for everyone. You have to be sure of elite pedigree before giving that kind of backing.

Indian selection philosophy is similar to how family's try to find groom in small town India. Private naukri with 2.5 lac per month nahi chalega. They'd pick sarkari naukri wala babu who earns 50k per month assuming under the table 4-5 lac kamata hoga. They want to pick bowlers based on under the table wala potential. Bowler to achha hai but run kitne bana ke dega?

Kuldeep Yadav should be thinking of packing his bags and saying goodbye to international cricket. Today there was no Bumrah, no Washington, no Varun but Kuldeep still didn't find a place in 11. India's bowling attack at Lord's is one dimensional and lacks variety. A left-arm wrist spinner would have come handy. Remember he has 194 wickets in 118 ODIs. It seems these numbers don't matter.

Spinners are creatures of confidence and rhythm. A team should always know its number one spinner and back him at all times. They may have one or two bad series but that investment in confidence pays long term dividends. Amit Mishra or Murli Kartik could have got better returns in their career if they played all games. Not saying they deserved to, just that anyone who is a quality spinner needs regular backing to thrive at international level.

@cricBC But Kuldeep could've only taken the place of a seamer today, so it's not like they preferred a worse spinner to him. And tbf, not just Kuldeep but no Indian spinner who can or can't bat has been in the wickets of late.

Kuldeep never gets a game in ODIs. Bhuvi doesn't even get selected in the squad for T20 despite being hands down best bowler in IPL. If only Ameesha Patel and Vidya Balan were tweeting for them, Agarkar/Gambhir would have noticed.

Gambhir once called Kumble India's greatest match winner. Kuldeep is India's best wrist spinner since Kumble and you have killer his confidence and rhythm by continuously keeping him on bench. Across formats. He was an automatic selection and a proper match winner in 2023 WC. What changed?

Series of losses, uneven contests, board politics, match fixing. Indian cricket has been through many lows. Nothing ever made me feel as nauseated and distanced from the game than shameless paid PR.
