Luigi Mangione Update His Federal trial dates have been set, but it is complicated. September 8, 2025 Mangione's trial will begin If the death penalty is taken off the table. The defense is arguing stalking is not a violent offense so therefore does not meet the predicate standard for a federal death penalty case. If the death penalty stays on the table, look for the trial date to be January 11, 2027. The defense is also arguing to keep his backpack out. This holds damning evidence against him including the gun. It will come in, in my opinion based on search incident to arrest doctrine or inevitable discovery, but it should come in. This kid, Luigi, had everything given to him on a platter and took the life of a man who worked for everything he had. Luigi is no marter.
