3/3 The Arizona Legislature has shown to all, including those across the Colorado River Basin, that we know how to lead in water policies that will help us all address the best use of our limited water supplies.

1/3 Today, in a strong bipartisan vote with a majority of both parties voting in favor, the Arizona House joined their colleagues in the Senate by passing the historic, compromise version of an “ag-to-urban” bill.

2/2 For things like funding #SB347 and litigation funding to protect Arizona’s rights to the Colorado River. I URGE our legislators to avoid this unprecedented budget standoff and work instead to finish a full year budget as they have done every other year.

1/2 The proposal by the Arizona House to do a “continuation budget”  is not a substitute for the hard negotiations and work that we expect from our Arizona legislative leaders, and it runs the risk of leaving out funding for important bipartisan initiatives in the current budget

Today, I have the solemn responsibility to be the first president to formally apologize to Native peoples – Native American, Native Hawaiian, and Native Alaskan – for what happened during the Indian Boarding School era. It's long overdue.

The Federal Indian Boarding School Era is one of the darkest chapters of American history. The trauma experienced in those institutions haunts our conscience to this very day. Today, I'm in Arizona to issue a long overdue presidential apology for this era – and speak to how my Administration has worked to invest in Indian Country and our relationships with Tribal Nations, advance Tribal sovereignty and self-determination, respect Native cultures, and protect Indigenous sacred sites. On my watch, we'll remain committed to ushering in a new era between our government and nation-to-nation relationships – one that is grounded in dignity and respect. We must remember our full history, even when it's painful. That's what great nations do. And we are a great nation.

He knew that if we got in the habit of bending the truth to suit political expediency or party orthodoxy, our democracy will not work. John McCain had character. That’s what I think about so much these days because it’s so different from what we see out of the Republican nominee.
