It's been years since I've been using AI tools for coding. First, they offered smart autocompletion. Then, they grew wiser and wiser over time. However, the last 6 months were crazy. Claude really changed how we approach software engineering. I'm not talking about Vibe Coding, or whatever you want to call it. I refer to spending hours crafting a good prompt. I refer to the chat with the AI to refine an idea, then create a plan of small, verifiable tasks. I refer to applying the plan one task at a time to maintain the LLM context window small. The world of software engineering is changing at the speed of light. The principles behind it will stay the same. You can't manage what you don't understand. So, investing in self-growth is a skill that has become a priority for engineers who don't want to be replaced by the program they used to develop just a couple of years ago.

I've been using NixOS as my primary OS for 3 years now! It is up there with Gentoo for best Linux distro. I now maintain the Kiro & JetBrains packages. So many great things about NixOS! It was definitely worth the switch.
