Bronchiectasis is a lung condition you might not have heard of, but it affects more than 200,000 people in the UK and millions around the world. There are no treatments and it remains hard to diagnose, which is why @lifearc1 and @asthmalunguk are working together to change this.

We bronchiectasis patients are over the moon and incredibly grateful for all you have achieved and for what you continue to achieve to make a difference to our lives. We were totally neglected till you came on the scene. We can’t thank you enough.
James D Chalmers@ProfJDChalmers

Wow. Thank you so much to the Lancet for this profile, it is a real honour. Medicine and Science are team sports and i've had amazing mentors, collaborators, clinical colleagues and the best team in Dundee that anyone could ask for. I feel very lucky and very grateful Thank you❤️

We did it! More than 1000 participants joined us for the World Bronchiectasis Conference #WBC2024 hosted in Dundee. Incredible breakthroughs for bronchiectasis patients, warm friendship and so many memories. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this possible ❤️❤️❤️

We patients were so pleased to work with Paul and Beatriz on demonstrating Airway Clearance Techniques that make a world of difference to how we manage our bronchiectasis. Patients - get referred to a respiratory physiotherapist, they can help you take control of your life.
Beatriz Herrero@Beika_Physio

So lovely to participate in #WBC24 highlighting the importance of the physiology behind the airway clearance therapies and having the opportunity to teach patients airway clearance skills in the amazing physio track!!. Thanks @EMBARCnetwork @TheACPRC

For most of the past 3 decades, bronchiectasis has been treated as an infectious disease. A new Review in @LancetRespirMed argues that bronchiectasis is primarily a chronic inflammatory disease and introduces a novel concept of disease activity: hubs.li/Q02FqqBl0

Its time to shift the paradigm in bronchiectasis Thinking about bronchiectasis as an inflammatory disease means - earlier intervention - focus on non-antibiotic treatments - clinicians and scientists working together - Pipeline of new anti-inflammatory treatments @MereteLong

No better in Australia. Only around a half of patients with bronchiectasis in Europe perform regular airway clearance. Techniques and use of airway clearance management is heterogeneous, suggesting the need for clearer guidelines and stronger evidence. bit.ly/3v2CFGy

So sad to learn of the death of Kathryn Bevis. I knew her first of all as a kind soul who cheered other poets on, then as my student. Later, I watched her soar and I used her stunning, resonant work in my teaching. Thinking of her family and many friends. xxx

The UK has the worst death rate for lung conditions in Europe. Increasing funding for lung research will improve diagnosis and save lives. Here are the steps the government can take to improve the nation’s lung health: bit.ly/3UtpBTj

@failingwriters Kathryn Bevis would be good. Take a look at her ‘The Title of this poem is “What’s the title of this poem”’? It’s a masterclass in the construction of many prizewinning poems (it’s in her pamphlet’Flamingo’ (published by Seren).

We’d love to know if there are any authors, writers, poets or masters of the craft that you’d like to hear us chat to on the show. Obviously we can’t promise to get them on, but we’re dead keen to hear your thoughts, and you never know… Drop us a reply if there is! Thanks!

@keridavies something’s been bothering me about Alice’s drinking when pregnant with Martha. I seem to remember she got drunk out of her skull, passed out on a road verge where Harrison found her. Yet Martha’s showing no dire effects that would apply in real life. Explain?
