@Tsogang3 AGOA: 80% is export from SA to USA, 20% is import from USA to SA. The trade balance is thus 80/20 in South Africa's favour. Go research it.

Some educated idiot said AGOA is about exporting and not importing. What he smokes is a very strong import.

NHI will steal our right to private healthcare, its like making a law that you can only buy electricity from Eskom and then confiscating your rooftop solar, batteries and inverter you paid for while increasing your tax and then put you on severe load shedding.

@standbr123 @SimplyMegszcpt AGOA's positive influence is massively overstated. The automotive companies threatening to leave were doing so before this court case. There are lots of reasons to pull investment from SA, this court case is not one of them. Grow up and live in the real world.

@LibertarianZA Any sanctions to SA will fast track BRICS proceses, western countries should refrain from thinking they can sanction everyone.

South Africa is exhibiting the Dunning-Kruger effect in international politics. We think we’re leading the world fighting for just causes but in truth we’re way out of our depth, coming across as hypocritical supporters of terrorist, dictatorial regimes, and in the process souring relations with key trading partners and the entire western establishment.

There are switches which turn off the trim motors. They actually did pull them in the Ethiopian crash, but eventually turned them back on. The trim doesn’t return to normal, it just stops moving. There is a manual trim wheel, but at high speeds, it’s impossible to move due to force on the trim tabs

@AndWeavers @Mocha_Soul @kevin_ovenden See you are not aware, AGOA is not a trade agreement. It is a duty free trade arrangement regulated by US LAW, the AGOA act. 400 000 jobs in South Africa will be affected if we loose AGOA. 1 in 36 families in South africa benefit from general trade with the US.

@XxAliceAdamsxX @FAANews It is not an unsafe airframe. Thousands in the air right now doing fine. Shoddy workmanship the problem.

@FAANews It's an unsafe airframe by design. They didn't want to pay to requalify so they thought they could just compensate for the weight distribution with a software patch. Profits over peoples lives. Poor leadership.

The FAA will require Boeing to provide additional data before the agency approves an extensive and rigorous inspection and maintenance process for returning the 737-9 MAX aircraft to service. Read more at faa.gov/newsroom/safet….

@stewak2 @JTTsteve More installation problem likely. The engineering side is fine. These same door plugs in use for many years even way before the Max era. No problems till this incident came up. Even the Airbus 321 uses plug doors on some models.

@JTTsteve All true, but it’s suboptimal to depend on customer maintenance to identify and correct serious manufacturer defects.

As bad as things are for the moment for Boeing, as a flying passenger you can take solace in the fact that the vast majority of Boeing airliners have been through multiple scheduled checks since they left the factory. Checks that find and repair things like loose bolts.
