@SenWarren Presumably you must be proposing a new constitutional amendment? Because this is not permitted under the Constitution currently.

Today, I'm introducing my wealth tax — and more than 50 members of Congress are joining me. It’s time for the government to start working for American families, not just the ultra-rich.

@designmom But the Y chromosome is itself pretty insignificant compared to the parts of the genome that come equally from both parents. Both parents contribute basically the same amount to their genetic legacy.

@designmom It's very silly of you to try to attribute so much significance to the mitochondrial genome. Especially given that the y chromosome, which is passed only from the father, is ~62,000 kb or about 3600 times larger than the mitochondrial genome.

Hey men, if having a genetic legacy is important to you, I have some bad news: Men don’t. Ever. Only women do. Literally.

@Omamba256 @DelphikiJu19228 @Hitchslap1 This is all going to be moot in a few years when the prices come down on peptides and similar drugs addressing the real root cause, which is physiological hunger.

@Omamba256 @DelphikiJu19228 @Hitchslap1 No they didn't, they just didn't care that much about the desert so they skipped it. It was no big deal for them. Fat people for the most part always had more nagging hunger all the time, so naturally, they break down and indulge a bit more frequently. Over time it adds up.

@Omamba256 @DelphikiJu19228 @Hitchslap1 Most skinny people just don't have the same degree of constant hunger and thoughts about food, so they don't have to exercise any particular "willpower" to stay skinny. Willpower isn't relevant whatsoever as a root cause.

@Omamba256 @DelphikiJu19228 @Hitchslap1 No they didn't, it was an intrinsic tendency for them. Skinny people being born lucky doesn't carry any useful lessons that are applicable for fat people.

@Omamba256 @DelphikiJu19228 @Hitchslap1 The real scalable solution is pharmaceutical intervention. Fortunately there has been great progress in recent years with drugs that target hunger, which is the actual root cause here.

@Omamba256 @DelphikiJu19228 @Hitchslap1 A handful of people (single digit percentages) with a tendency towards obesity can keep weight off in the long term by being extremely disciplined, but they constantly feel starving and have constant thoughts about food. It's not realistic for most people.

@Omamba256 @DelphikiJu19228 @Hitchslap1 Will power is completely irrelevant. Skinny people don't have more willpower it's just intrinsically easier for them. They deserve zero credit for that.

@cryo_tom @DelphikiJu19228 @Hitchslap1 The root cause is willpower and lack of information. It’s always nice to be able to say, “It’s not my fault, I was born this way.”

@Omamba256 @DelphikiJu19228 @Hitchslap1 The root cause is their genetics. The availability of very cheap, very palatable and very caloric food allows for those genetics to drive bad feedback loops, but the reason some people are fat and others are skinny in the same food environment is genetics.

@WUTangKids What makes you think that food was free? I mean if these guys are not local and had to go on official travel to be there, they would get a per diem for food, just like anyone traveling for work. But how would you know if they are local or not?

@Mankosmash @ArtemisConsort Skinny people for the most part don't feel anywhere near as hungry as fat people---that's why they're skinny. But I know they like to pat themselves on the back under the delusion that they somehow have "more willpower," when it's just a matter of genetic luck for most people.

It’s not physically possible to gain weight in a caloric deficit. I’ve watched dozens of episodes of “my 600 pound life” and it seems the common thread is rejection of responsibility. They think if they can hoodwink the doctor about how much they’ve been eating, it will somehow solve their problems. Leftism is this mentality applied at scale.
Hitchslap@Hitchslap1

I’ve often wondered about this. How is it possible to be in a caloric deficit and not lose weight?
