working at base/coinbase in 2026 is the best ripping claude tokens from my backyard, bed, wherever i want. working all hours because i love the work, people, mission, and helping our customers. taking 3min breaks because my wife wants to share something or needs a hand and i'm there. no wasted time commuting, convincing leadership to give us ai tools, performative live facetime (though we still meet up in person throughout the year when it counts, and it's irreplaceably awesome) enables max efficiency and output across both work and personal life. what a privilege. if this resonates we're always looking for top talent

No more loading memory.md at the start of each /new session — this prevents wasting ~1M tokens on boot. Soul/identity is read at initialization, and memory is only called on demand when actually needed. Use Haiku as the default model, switch to Sonnet only for heavier tasks (max 2 times per day), and use Opus strictly for trading via bankrskill (once per day). Replace Anthropic for heartbeat checks with a free local Ollama model. Add several safeguards around rate limits and API usage: prevent loops, add time delays between retries, cap retry counts, and gracefully abandon failed attempts instead of hammering endpoints.

I optimized token usage for my OpenClaw Agent and cut costs by about 75%. Before, running 12 cron jobs was costing me over $20 per day. Now I’m running 22 cron jobs and the total cost is max $5 per day. If anyone’s interested in how I did it or has questions — feel free to DM me.
