I have been in many of the top DePIN projects over the last 6 years. My observation is all of these projects with their own tokens are little more than VC scams. They print a bunch of tokens out of thin air, and dump on retail. They all suffer from the same problem: decentralization theater through their Labs/DOA/Foundation corporate structure (hint, they all know each other and they all coordinate against retail), ever changing tokenomics that only benefits the insiders, and janky hardware with long lead time and constant network connectivity issues. Any real project would establish an L1 treasury (like SOL) and simply pay rewards in the L1. Every single one of these DePIN tokens is down ~99% from ATH. When I think about how much time and money I have wasted buying DePIN equipment, and trying to deploy and maintain it, I would have been better off just buying and holding Bitcoin.

Because no one uses it. The Bee costs $600 and produces less than $10 a month for most people. Hivemapper has no customers for its data and they changed the tokenomics to pay less to the mappers. The LTE won't pay for the SIM card it uses and the not LTE cannot stay connected long enough to upload rewards.
