The United States will release 172 million barrels of oil from its Strategic Petroleum Reserve beginning next week, U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright announced on Wednesday, as part of a coordinated effort to stabilise global oil markets.
The release is expected to begin soon and continue for around 120 days, forming part of a larger coordinated release of about 400 million barrels by the International Energy Agency (IEA) to calm the market.
