The broken telephone phenomenon occurred. Or, more precisely, a “model collapse.” AI is not capable of reproducing a sample with absolute accuracy because it is not a photocopier, but a machine that has been taught to guess based on image and similarity. Therefore, when reproducing a model, accuracy is compromised. AI considers each new iteration to be source material. As a result, errors accumulate and at some point the original image dies completely. The moral of this fable is what AI will do to us if we do not control it at every step and let it run free. In any field, applied or theoretical, whether it be medicine or transportation, space or education, consumer services or security systems.
