Where are all the agents? We were promised autonomous intelligence and we only got chatbots and glorified workflows sprinkled with LLMs. Where is the autonomy if I still have to account for all possible edge cases? Why do I still have to deal with APIs, spaghetti logic, and esoteric protocols? Why can’t I just describe the outcome I want in plain english and the computer will figure out all the details? These are the questions we’ve been asking ourselves at @trylatitude for the past few months. Today we’re introducing a new way to build automation software. Building for autonomy requires upgrading your mental model of what software is. All you need now are prompts and tools. Code is out, the LLM is the backend now. Latitude is the first full-stack agent engineering platform built around this idea. It is a code editor but you won’t see any code, only plain-english instructions. We have all the advanced tools you need to design flexible behavior: agent orchestration, tool calling, evaluations, and monitoring. And the best part is you don’t even have to worry about any of it. We’ve built an agent—Latte!—that takes care of everything for you. You don’t have to be an expert to program computers anymore. We’re bringing joy to building software, and this is just the first step.

Let's dive on how we implemented this. MCP servers were first thought out as an extension for local AI tools (i.e Claude Desktop) so they aren't easily hostable in a shared environment – most only support stdio for comms and they all rely on runtime env vars for configuration
cesar.wtf@heycesr

Enter the Model Context Protocol. It's an open protocol by Anthropic to standardize how applications provide context to LLMs. Think about it as a semantic layer between an API and an LLM, so that models can integrate with your data and tools. There was one problem though: MCP doesn't support remote servers very well, so @geclos had to do a lot of infrastructure magic to support our use case. With Latitude, you don't have to worry about spinning up remote MCP servers. We do it automatically when you set up your integrations.

We did it. We've built Deep Research using @trylatitude 🤖 Fully customizable for your use case and data, uses cheaper models (4o and 4o-mini) and performs just as good as some other clones we've seen. Sounds complicated but it really isn't, just 4 prompts. That's the magic of agents ✨

Every Friday is demo day at @trylatitude. Coming soon: tool-enabled autonomous agents. We've been working on this one for a while. Check out how this agent searches the web, generates and runs code to calculate the result, and evaluates its own performance. Amazing demo by @csansoon 👏

Just tested a new feature I've been working on, and honestly... it’s wild. 😲 @trylatitude is already familiar with your prompts and the metrics that matter to you. It even knows how it’s performing. This means prompts can now actually improve by themselves to optimise results!

I've been balancing parental leave with Latitude's latest pivot over the past couple of months, so my contributions haven't been what I would have liked them to be. Huge thanks to @andresgutgon and @csansoon for stepping up and delivering some truly outstanding work!

We're cooking something new. Dynamic LLM prompting enriched with data from your database/warehouse. Unlocks insight generation, categorization, sentiment analysis, and more on top of your data with a few lines of code. Great work @csansoon, can't wait to ship this 🚀
