@Muck4Value_RWN @commbankerguy My scientific wild a** guess was not far off. A little light, actually. Loans are good when you book ‘em. Don’t know they are bad until hard times. And we really haven’t had hard times recently.

This isn’t 1995. These rules don’t matter anymore and it’s crazy to me people think like this in 2026. Great you knew my grandfather but if your tech sucks, who cares. And Compliance regs have eliminated character from the equation.

@commbankerguy I would estimate 10%-20% of loans are made as exceptions to policy, depending on a bank’s risk appetite. Mostly commercial loans, because as you mentioned, regs are very difficult to make exceptions for fear of appearance to adversely impact a protected class.

Let’s change subject. Dad life is hard. My hardest challenges being a new dad (1 year old) have been working out (kettlebells) and off my phone (setting limits). Working on both but seem slow to get where I want. Maximizing the time of the day is very hard and sleep is my highest priority.
