Performance & visual artist Brendan Fernandes is having a milestone year—serving as the first artist-in-residence at the @DriehausMuseum. The residency has given @WeinbergCollege's Fernandes access to a landmark space—while developing new site-specific works with collaborators.

@Juicewag Thank you Maureen O’Connor and my far removed cousin in Harrison County who saw the notice in the paper and somehow rounded up like 15 old people to stake their claims oblic.com/wp-content/upl…

Vivek’s data privacy solution being that you get a sell-on clause to your own data being sold is really funny at least

@Juicewag I mean Kasich let the frackers do this with my grandmas mineral rights but she took them all the way to the Ohio Supreme Court before it was stuffed with DeWine cronies and we won :)

the ABS system sits at the vexed crossroads of several highly charged dynamics in our collective life. successful challenges (by your team) feel amazing, like a long-awaited blow against capricious and unearned authority; but the overall existence (and putative infallibility) of ABS inevitably ignites anxieties about the superfluity of human judgement. and yet, the challenge system relies on human hubris, intuition, boldness, and risk. it's a very compelling encounter between populism and the machine.

So baseball is popular again because they humiliate the umpires?

@andersleehere They literally made a comedy movie about how implausible it would be for Cleveland to beat them

An underrated element in all of this is what I call “AL Central theory.” A lot of us moved here from the Midwest and rooted for teams that got spanked by the Yankees in the playoffs so much it affected our passion for baseball but it’s fun to go to games so go Mets.

@Bobby4Brooklyn @Mets You keep missing my point. Of course there are NY native Mets fans. My father was a NY Giants fan who became a Mets fan in 1962. I know this history. I am talking about a particular type - NY transplant, left-leaning, in a gentrified neighborhood - who casually takes up the Mets

the funny thing about yankees vs mets discourse is that it's extremely millennial coded, we grew up with the yankees as the evil empire and the mets as scrappy underdogs. now the mets have a richer owner, the yankees are run by a nepo cheapskate, the evil has moved west to LA

My take on why transplants like the Mets The Yankees bludgeoned my beloved Cleveland for 50 years. They literally made a comedy movie about the premise that Cleveland could beat them
