@BrianKingNeo @Dr_KSGautham @KarenLuyt @researchsquare To add...Cost-benefit analysis tends to measure the benefits in consumption equivalent. However, for me, the distinction between cost-effectiveness and cost-benefit analyses is more apparent than real. Neither avoid the question of what an appropriate threshold should be.

@Dr_KSGautham @KarenLuyt @researchsquare Also important to remember that when we talk about the "costs of an intervention" that is an umbrella that includes not just the cost of the intervention itself (e.g. wholesale cost of probiotic course for premie), but also potentially cost-savings from cases of NEC averted.

Updated @CochraneLibrary review reaffirms that MgSO4 is effective in reducing cerebral palsy. Implementation into clinical practice needs to be accelerated to translate these benefits into better outcomes for preterm babies worldwide. Link to Review and Editorial👇

New @cochranecollab editorial out today by @KarenLuyt about magnesium sulfate, an inexpensive drug that can prevent cerebral palsy in premature babies. We are proud to have helped roll out magnesium sulfate in England through the @PReCePT_MgSO4 programme. cochranelibrary.com/cdsr/doi/10.10…
