@weathernerdga Hoping to avoid having to spend the night somewhere like Birmingham. May try avoiding the city by going north through Dalton to Cherokee/Forsyth around 2pm

@cswanger Well, snow should fall in the morning hours in North Georgia. It will be on the roads. Probably a better chance later? As roads could be plowed, idk lol. If Atlanta gets more snow that what is currently showed, I would avoid it like the plague

1/29 Night Update Focus: North Georgia down to the Metro We have a wide-spread snow event in North Georgia looking to unfold with a gradient from east to west. Is there a chance of a wide-spread bust? yes. But I only give that a 10%-15% chance. Hey, it’s better than 50/50 lol GIF 1: NWS (Zoomed-In) Expected Snowfall GIF 2: NWS Probabilities (1”/2”/4”/6”) Both of those Expected Snowfall and Probabilities can and will change some North Georgia’s eastern counties along the SC/GA border continue to look to be in the best spot with this system. Nothing has really changed with that. What has changed in the past 24hrs is this trend of more moisture further west into a lot more of Northern Georgia. An interesting feature that I’m nervous/excited about is banding setting up. This feature might have those west of a line from Gainesville to Winder to Madison hit a jackpot or go broke. This is why accumulation maps west of this line should be taken with a grain of salt (both positively and negatively). “If” these bands set up and you are situated in a band, quick (and I mean very quick) accumulations can take place with near white-out conditions (jackpot). That sounds awesome and it is, but someone 5 miles away that doesn’t get involved in a band could go broke and end up with only half of what they were expecting. So while you see a gradient in the snowfall accumulation maps from east to west, it may not play out that way exactly past that line. This is still a work in progress thought, we will see what CAMs have to say about it tomorrow morning and afternoon. Those areas east of that Gainesville to Winder to Madison line, as well as those tucked into the foothills north of Gainesville, I feel much better about what current accumulation maps show. You will also probably experience some heavier bands which could bring you actually higher than what’s shown, but your foundation of snowfall won’t leave you broke even if you don’t get set up in one. How far west does the snowfall go? Well… I don’t know. Small adjustments will likely be ongoing until the event. Any small adjustment will obviously alter locations, but amounts as well. Regardless, this is not a long duration event for most (outside of the eastern counties). Early morning to 1-2, maybe a little longer the further south and east you go. This snow will be a powdery snow, as ratios will be very very high compared to what we are accustomed to here in Georgia. Aside from the snow, very cold conditions Saturday night into Sunday for almost all, as we are under an Extreme Cold Watch for that time period

What an amazing week we had! Thank you @JaniceDean and Sean for being amazing fellow pilgrims! Holy Land (May, 2026) here we come! spiritualjourneytorome@gmail.com
Janice Dean@JaniceDean

Hi everyone. I wanted to share an incredible journey my husband Sean and I went on with our good friends @JonMorris2019 and his beautiful wife Kaitlyn. This trip has been many months in the making, and the experience was everything we could have dreamed of. Every 25 years, the Catholic Church celebrates a Jubilee Year. Tens of millions make their journey to renew the hope that has been given to us through our faith. Jonathan and his team put together visits for a group of us to several Basilicas including St. Peter’s with walks through 4 Holy Doors that are only open during the Jubilee. There were tours of the Colosseum, Catacombs & Ghetto di Roma Palatine Hill, St. Augustin, the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain. We also attended a Papal blessing with Pope Leo after a Jubilee procession, a visit to the Vatican Museums with a tour of the Sistine Chapel. (The weather was bellisima! I told Jonathan I made sure of this!) ☀️ At at the end of our pilgrimage Jonathan mentioned he would be doing another faith trip to the Holy land in May 2026 which he told me I could pass along if any of you might be interested. I know I certainly am. You can email spiritualjourneytorome@gmail.com for more details. Much love, JD

1/2 On my way to Boise, Idaho for the Bryan Kohberger hearing Thursday in front of the new judge. His lawyers are requesting he get to wear "street clothing" -- claiming the jail jumpsuit "would impact the presumption of innocence."

Parole Board just turned down Leonard Peltier. 49 years in jail for something he didn’t do and no proof that he did. 79 years old on a walker. Diabetes and other serious ailments. They let a Manson murderer out. They let a Mob hitman out. How is this not Native American bigotry?
