@eyeonthefly Honestly I think it would be pretty straightforward to phase out plastic packaging. However, people still continue to whine about not having plastic grocery bags, so I don’t have high hopes of any major retailer actually doing it, unless forced. And there will be so much whining.

@PalestinianPoo @pedromiguel13 Really? People still think you can’t bike when it snows? I do it every day, all winter.
English

@ct_degroot @pedromiguel13 Take the train 😂, are you going to use the road or bike lanes when it snows?
English

Wow. Less than 40% of people drive in the core areas, yet they occupy 80% of the space. What a terribly inefficient transport mode for cities.
Dave Edwards 🇨🇦@DaveLikesBikes
.@CBCNews fact-checking claims from Sarkaria that only 1.2% of Torontonians commute by bike. Sarkaria continues to mislead the public, citing "conversations" with unnamed business owners as the reason for spending taxpayer money to tear out existing lanes youtube.com/watch?v=ScwcEV…
English

@PalestinianPoo @pedromiguel13 Yeah it sucks when people on bikes have a safe ride to work but it’s a “hassle” for some other people.
English

@pedromiguel13 @ct_degroot Stay in Montreal buddy. Unlike Montreal banning big commercial trucks on residential streets . Toronto has too much of them, it’s a hassle to mingle with bikers and slow moving trucks trying to make a left turn at the same time.

John Tory doesn’t think the people who ferry his Uber Eats order from the Yonge Street Terroni to his Yorkville condo deserve to be safe while doing it.
Alex Bozikovic@alexbozikovic
“If you take out the food delivery bikes, there’s not many (bikes).” Here is Tory saying an entire class of workers - the young men who commute from Brampton to bring Rosedale its Uber Eats - don’t count. Clearly, they should cycle in mixed traffic and risk dying.

@David_Moscrop Hope they like their new PM basically just as bad as Trump.

Interesting article by @mrmoneymustache — most of it applies to the next election in Canada as well. mrmoneymustache.com/2024/10/13/eco…
English

@MWMacKenzie Exactly! If that is the case, shouldn’t he be doing something about it still? Unless…

@PHealthGnome And the polling stations in Canada are generally walking distance (within cities anyways)

@ct_degroot @tpcanoe Bike lanes...death gutters protected by a line of paint...are dangerous, and there are always zealots who argue against better cuz it's not perfect.
English

This is my take too. The Colborne bike lane in #ldnont is a critical piece of infrastructure for biking with my family. It will also be important for my kids once they start high school. The politicization of #bikelanes demonstrates all that is wrong with #cdnpoli.
English

@FrostGroup1 @tpcanoe Generally this is true. I have met a few gems that believe fully in vehicular cycling and claim that bike lanes are dangerous. But by and large, most “avid” cyclists recognize the need, even if they wouldn’t necessarily use them.
English

@ct_degroot @tpcanoe The opposition mainly stems from gettoization, placing cyclists on unusable routes that take us nowhere. No rider objects to proper infrastructure even if they don't need to use it.
English

@ZeroVision416 “Congestion”. We have more traffic than this in #ldnont at rush hour!
English

@smartassnishnaw I got something on the weekend delivered to the neighbour’s house… with their incorrect house number in the photo. These delivery people seem pushed to their limits by their employer and do not do a good job. Also see them driving while on their phones very often
