As a startup founder, I've raised over $7 million over 10 years and founded six companies. If I had to start over, here's what I'd do: 🧵

Are you an early-stage AI investor? PROMPT is coming to Amsterdam. What are networking events really for? - Seeing friends? - Chatting with other investors? - Catching up with LPs? Or discovering 100x founders?

Most people mistake motion for progress. One looks busy, the other builds empires.

We've started sharing our journey on our company blog. Usually, I'm the one writing. here it is: logs.fab.page The only options we have are RSS and a WhatsApp channel. Should I bother to create a newsletter? I'm not sure. What do you think? Is it a must?

@hnshah Most should be incomplete in order to remain as advice.

Most advice sounds smart because it’s incomplete.

Yes, it’s reasonable to accept that investors are searching for their Dave and overlooking the Petes and the writers. But in the end, we’re not just our labels or money seekers. So the question is: What are you chasing?

In today’s world of unicorns, Pete might be seen as a “loser,” Dave as a “winner,” and the writer as “not a founder.” But deep down, we know these labels miss the point.

Winners, losers, and chasing. What really matters? I recently read the story of Pete Best, a drummer who was kicked out of his band. He was handsome and loved by fans but was removed just before they signed a record deal and became The Beatles.

Note to myself: We don’t change our minds just because someone makes us say Yes to stg. We change our minds only when new information is available. After hearing No, don’t insist, but try to bring new information to the table instead to give your prospect a chance to say yes.

@galeforceVC The dumbify app for iPhone, little modification/iteration, and the outcome is less distraction. A screenshot of my iPhone screen is attached. Working for me.

@ColinandGarrett Exciting. Of course, we should ask why. Why, beyond being exciting for a few of us?

We have a strong urge to start a physical magazine. NO online edition. Horrible idea? Or ahead of the curve for when the pendulum inevitably swings back towards analog?

Magic links are easy to integrate for devs, but a dang poor experience for users. Oftentimes, I end up not logging in. A 'great' way for your users to bounce. Devs, please don't be in denial 🙏

Magic link login is a hell of a UX. You are on a website 👉 they send you a link 👉 switch focus 👉 open the email 👉 reload a few times until the email arrives 👉 remember not to check anything else 👉 click on the link 👉 open a new tab 👉 and you're finally in. WTF 🤯

I captured this photo at 7 a.m. after a 1-hour drive. I had driven nearly 9 hours straight for a mere 30-minute meeting—a meeting where I hoped to onboard someone to my startup. My mission was clear: convince him that joining me in this venture was a fantastic opportunity for both of us. I truly believed in this. During the trip, I meditated on the essence of being an entrepreneur: accepting that your idea might not work but being brave enough to pursue it anyway. This means going the extra mile—being willing to drive 519 km for even a 1% chance. At least, that’s what I told myself. In the end, I failed. I couldn’t convince him. He had his own story, one I couldn’t change. I felt nothing negative though. Maybe it was my defense mechanism in action, but there was nothing to worry about because this wasn’t my first failure, and it wouldn’t be my last. And honestly, I kind of like being rejected after trying hard. I remember a poster in a friend’s room in college that read, “If you lose, lose hard.” For me, entrepreneurship is about those moments—whether you win or lose—that make you feel truly alive. Life is too short to be a pussy.
