Yesterday, @ctghub hosted an amazing Space featuring @0xNarb, a core team member of N1 (formerly Layer N), diving deep into the project’s groundbreaking vision for Web3. Top chads like @Ricoverse1OF1, @oofybog, @Xchainjosh, and @web3_medic asked great questions and Narb shared insights into the project’s journey, technology, and vision and did a good job answering some of these questions. If you missed it, here’s a concise summary of the space and why you should be extra bullish on @N1Chain 🫵🏾: About N1 N1, formerly known as Layer N, is a high-performance Layer-1 blockchain designed to address the bottlenecks of app development in the blockchain space, and the discussion highlighted why it’s poised to be a game-changer. The Team and the Vision -> The N1 founders previously worked on Solana and were building a decentralized exchange (DEX). -> They encountered significant challenges in app development on existing blockchains. -> To tackle these, they initially set out to create a Layer-2 solution on Ethereum but pivoted to a Layer-1 blockchain to solve these issues. -> The rebranding from Layer N to N1 was partly inspired by how catchy it sounds and the community’s love for memes. -> Narb emphasized that N1 is app-driven and app-focused, prioritizing developer needs and seamless user experiences. Why N1? -> N1 offers dedicated environments for each application on its chain, unlike shared environments that lead to congestion, and gas fee spikes ultimately. -> It separates execution, ensuring apps run on their own chains while still communicating seamlessly. -> N1 supports languages like TypeScript, Python, and Rust, moving away from the need for chain-native languages like Solidity, which lowers the barrier for developers. -> This ensures no gas fee spikes and a developer-friendly ecosystem. -> It was also revealed that N1 achieved 50,000 transactions per second (TPS) on a closed mainnet version in November 2024 and also achieved over 100,000 TPS on a testnet recently, showcasing its high-throughput capabilities. Current State and Future Plans -> N1 is not permissionless -> For now, they’re closely collaborating with teams building on the chain, particularly trading apps like @01_exchange -> 01 has a public testnet live and you can check it out and connect your wallet and X to it -> There is an incubation program (check website) for teams that have ideas to build on the chain’s infrastructure (submissions for this program are closing soon). -> The mainnet launch for 01 is slated for July 2025 ->The team also teased “Gen1,” described as “vibe-coding onchain,” hinting at innovative app development approaches. Funding and Ecosystem Growth -> N1 has secured significant backing, raising $5 million in 2023 and an additional $2 million through Echo recently, totaling $7 million. This funding is fueling their app-centric vision, with a focus on trading apps and other use cases leveraging Rust and TypeScript. Lastly, it was revealed that mainnet would be happening in the next one or two months. Key Takeaways This just makes me more bullish on N1. And it’s the same thing I have been saying about it. If there would be a massive shift to Web3, the apps need to be user-focused and developer-friendly. And that’s exactly what N1 is building! gN1.
