Huge congratulations to Dr. @A_CharlesOrszag who has just gotten a tenure-track position at UC Davis! Expect great things from the Charles-Orszag Lab! Here is Arthur performing the ceremonial signing of the champagne cork divot in the ceiling of the lunch room!

Yesterday I decided to stop editing out all the exclamation marks in my emails. I’ve done this for years to seem “more professional.” But what does that really mean???? Less female? Less young? Less excited? Well I’m young and female and IM EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get used to it.

"I'm only half Filipino, is it okay if I ____." YES! Filipino is Filipino is Filipino. Mixed Filipinos are valid and have EVERY RIGHT to claim and practice our culture. Anyone who says otherwise is a gatekeeper. You ARE Filipino enough.

I got an F on my midterm in Korean History taught by a Japanese history professor at Yale. He said Asians were Math and Science majors. I was majoring in History. I wrote a novel called “Pachinko” which is now taught in Japanese history classes, as well as other disciplines.

Flex your lowest academic low score. To remind us that almost everyone fails at some point in life but it isn't the end of the road. Just a memory in the end. Mine was 27/100 in Engineering Math 2, just a year after I'd scored 99 in 12th boards. Much needed kick in my butt.
