The lead author of the Times Khamenei obituary started there in 1981 and was “the last Reuters correspondent known to have filed dispatches by carrier pigeon.”

We've looked at an eclipse from both sides now... While @NASAGlenn was looking up to see last night's Blood Moon, @fireflyspace's Blue Ghost lunar lander was looking back at the "diamond ring" of a solar eclipse. A reminder that what you see often depends on your point of view.

@MirandaHqv I adore this and can’t find anything about it beyond your tweet—who wrote it, and where can I read more?

25 years ago I tore this Richard Wilbur poem out of the New Yorker because I loved it so much. I still think its final stanza is one of the most beautiful descriptions of love I know: “Like a good fiddle, like the rose’s scent, / Like a rose window, or the firmament.”

Happy "Lana Turner" poem day to all who celebrate! On this day in 1962, Frank O'Hara wrote this poem on the Staten Island ferry (on his way to give a reading with Robert Lowell) after seeing a tabloid headline. More here on what actually happened to Lana: newyorkschoolpoets.wordpress.com/2014/03/07/a-v…
