What an incredible 8th annual Great Diocesan Read Aloud (GDRA)! 📚✨ Students across our diocese experienced amazing stories as Michelle Schaub, Adam Gidwitz, Sally Cressman, and Izabela Ciesinska joined classrooms virtually to read aloud with them.

Our Lady of Mercy was blessed to have Bishop Robert J. Brennan join their 2nd graders for the Great Diocesan Read Aloud! He shared The Real Presence by Claudia McAdam, guiding our students closer to Jesus in the Eucharist. In gratitude, the class gifted him a spiritual bouquet.

Today we honor St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, the first native-born U.S. citizen to be canonized a saint and the foundress of the Catholic school system in the United States. She opened the first free Catholic girls’ school in Maryland, and is the patron saint of Catholic schools.
