Being under the Bohemian crown for a long period of time, Wrocław’s location on the outskirts of the Holy Roman Empire made it ideal to serve as the Empire’s bridge to Eastern Europe. Read more about Wrocław and other cities in #TheGuild - Europa 1410: thqn.net/49mpSQ5 📜

@visegrad24 That’s an interesting approach to dealing with population decline. A lot of rural areas are struggling to keep businesses and communities alive, so immigration is being seen as one way to help fill those gaps.

🇪🇸 Immigrants make up nearly 20% of Spain’s population but account for only 8.9% in rural areas. Now, the government is looking to change that. “Without immigration, rural Spain has an enormously difficult future,” said Francesc Boya, the top government official on demography policy. “The only way to maintain what we might call sustainable population pyramids is by bringing new settlers into rural areas,” he added. To achieve this goal, the government is funding initiatives set up by rural councils, companies, and non-profit groups to attract immigrants. One example is Villagatón, a municipality with just over 600 residents, where a factory making parasols and fences has a workforce that is 80 per cent immigrants from Senegal, Gambia, and Colombia. Other projects include finding immigrants who are willing to take over bakeries, supermarkets, and bars in rural areas. “We’re just getting started,” said Boya.

@SoulashGame All those things are great, but what stands out to me is the economy. The trade mechanics are well thought out and rewarding, and I love that you haven't neglected the economy. In fact, it’s one of the strongest points of Soulash 2.

Naomi Osaka on why she chose to host a party for the black tennis players: “You know I'm seeing a little bit of- ‘Why can't you love everyone for all skin tones?’ and ‘what if someone had an all white party?! First of all I do love everyone for who they are no matter their race + ethnicity, (I'm literally half Japanese lol). I can only speak from my experiences in my own life though, growing up as a tennis player I didn't see many people that looked like ME and I feel like it's important to celebrate them. Secondly I feel like it's important to note that there have been all white dinners/parties. I don't know how else to tell you this, I literally seen them all the time and never had an issue with it at all. To the people who ask this question I want to ask you this question too, ‘What is it about POC getting together that unsettles you so much?’ I want to end this by saying I grew up watching my dad get discriminated against, having the cops called on him multiple times at the tennis court. There are multiple things I will apologize for in my life but celebrating being black and appreciating who we are will never be something I would consider saying sorry for. Thanks. Actually I lied, I am sorry. I'm sorry for the people who cannot comprehend in their brains that this is not about exclusion, this is a celebration about how far we have come 🖤” (via Naomi on Threads)

The world is about to get a master class in antisemitism. Israel's minister Ben Gvir's behavior towards the flotilla activists was unacceptable. I said so myself. World leaders all posted angry denunciations of the Israeli government and summoned Israeli ambassadors for a dressing down. Here, the same activists are receiving much more brutal treatment at the hands of the Spanish government. What we won't see however is an international outcry against the Spanish government. This imbalance isn't due to the vagaries of international diplomacy. People hold the Jewish state to a higher standard than they do any other state, and fundamentally it's due of bigotry and hatred. @AnitaAnandMP

Iga Swiatek on the Dubai tournament director saying earlier in the year that both her & Sabalenka should receive very harsh penalties for withdrawing close to the start of the tournament, ‘If we aren’t fit or we don’t feel like this is the right time for us to play… like, are we slaves?’ “I was curious for your thoughts about the comments made by the tournament director in Dubai, when you pulled out of that tournament, who said both you and Sabalenka… because you both pulled out close to the start of the tournament… should get very harsh penalties like losing 500 ranking points or something like that. What were your thoughts on those comments?” Iga: “Wait… Aryna got a penalty?” “No, the tournament director was suggesting there should be very harsh penalties and fines and ranking point losses. Maybe you didn’t hear this, but…” Iga: “I didn’t. I heard about the complaints but I didn’t hear about the penalty, probably because it’s a bit ridiculous [laughs]. 😂 We have a right to withdraw any time we want. I don’t see the problem honestly. If we are not fit or we don’t feel like this is the right time for us to play a tournament… like, are we slaves? We are allowed to decide, so I don’t see the problem. We get zero in the ranking. That’s a punishment.” (via Roland Garros Press)

RPG developer Josh Sawyer says Obsidian Entertainment is not against romance systems like the ones in Baldur’s Gate 3. He explained that these features take a huge amount of time, money, and work to create properly. “It’s not like an opposition to their existence,” Sawyer said. “It’s just that I don’t know if we’re going to be able to do it.” Sawyer said romance systems need a lot of extra writing, voice acting, cutscenes, and character reactions. Because of this, Obsidian would rather focus on other parts of a game instead of adding romances that feel incomplete or low quality. He also said players now expect romance content to be as detailed as Baldur’s Gate 3, which raised the standard for RPG games. Sawyer added that Obsidian still cares about emotional stories and character relationships.
