Our new display ' A History of Cuckfield in 20 Objects ' is now up and running from 15th February - 2nd May 2020

Thursday 30th April, 2.30 pm, The Queen’s Hall “Reflections of the early postal service in Mid Sussex”, talk by Peter Cockburn Peter gives a fascinating collector’s view of the early postal services of Cuckfield and district. events@cuckfieldmuseum.org for bookings or enquiries.

Sunday again, time for some local history research . A little more on the Workhouse. Union Workhouse served Albourne, Ardingly, Balcombe, Bolney, Clayton, Cowfold, Cuckfield, Horsted Keynes, Hurstpierpoint, Keymer, Lindfield, Newtimber, Pyecombe, Slaugham and Twineham

Did you know Cuckfield Union Workhouse was completed in 1845 at a cost of £7,500 in classical style in red brick with a chequer work pattern, it was designed to accommodate 450 inmates in the main building, with infirmary blocks added in 1877 and 1890.

Our autumn main display this year is “Harvest Home”. We have several antique objects on display from the dairy that have recently been loaned for our farming display. Amongst other things, the different sizes of milk dips and little ceramic pots

Planning to visit the museum tomorrow, Saturday ? Street parking has been suspended but the main car park on Broad Street is open

Cuckfield Museum has a new display case ‘Church Street Secrets’ for the cache of deliberately concealed objects which was found under the floorboards of 1 Church St in 2002 and which was recently on loan to the Ashmolean Museum.
