One thing I’ve found amusing lately is seeing a number of Muslim women on social media giving ‘advice’ to a sister whose husband wanted to take another wife. Most of the advice revolved around the wife creating a list of ‘requirements’ or conditions the husband must fulfil before he can marry again. My reaction was where exactly is this framework coming from? From an Islamic legal perspective, a husband does not require his wife’s permission to enter a second/third/forth marriage. He is not even obligated to seek approval beforehand. Though could argue telling the wife beforehand is a part of ihsan. So I find it strange when people frame the discussion as though the wife has veto power over something that, in principle, falls under the husband’s authority and responsibility. You're right on women need to have a license to use the internet/social media because they'll say bunch of bs the second they have access to internet.
