Steve Jobs was diagnosed in 2003 with what was basically the only curable form of pancreatic cancer that there is. They were fortunate to catch it early. But Jobs declined the surgery, insisting instead on alternative medicine. He eventually realized he was wrong, but too late. Yet another casualty of eccentrics with big egos thinking that *they* know better than the doctors. You can read about it in the Walter Isaacson biography on Jobs.

But I said, “If there’s even a 1% chance, we go handle it like adults.” Because I’m not afraid of the truth. So we drove to her apartment. She opened the door in silk pajamas, hair done, smelling like she just stepped out of a photoshoot. No swollen eyes. No panic. Just a soft smile. “I knew you’d come.” I stood there quietly while he asked, “Did you take a test?” She shrugged. “No… I just wanted to see if you still cared.” I have never seen a grown man look so disappointed. Not angry. Disappointed. Because there’s nothing attractive about weaponizing motherhood for attention. We left without arguing. And that night I learned something: A secure marriage doesn’t fear tests. But immature people will create them anyway.

In light of recent news about The Flash’s original endings, here’s exactly what happened. The Flash was going to be the DCEU’s attempt at a fresh start; their Flashpoint per se. The first ending was just going to be Sacha Calle and Michael Keaton replacing Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill as the leaders of the DCEU. But then Black Adam got Cavill back, so the ending was reshot with Henry, Keaton and Sasha and only Keaton would replace Affleck as Batman. Then Black Adam tanked and James Gunn was hired. The Flash ending that we got with George Clooney was to kill any chance of the DCEU continuing and giving audiences false hope for its future. One day we will see those original endings, just like the Ayer Cut and The Schumacher Cut but that won’t be for a very long time. It sucks that this is how it all played out, but it is what it is.
