Linear is held as the gold standard for high-quality "big" software. I've never used Linear day-to-day until now. I've noticed lots of small interface bugs in the past month. Which is not a criticism of Linear. Hard to catch 'em all. But a reminder that perfection is impossible.

Did you think a todo-app was simple? 👀 Think again! Today I tried to replicate Things iOS app from @culturedcode. What they do with animations is exceptional 😍 They may look simple, but there's a very thoughtful process behind them: keeping visual attention while presenting a new view, all while being original. All behind the scenes is managed with @motiondotdev, obviously. 😙🤌

I love Things from @culturedcode. Everything about it brings me joy. But man I wish there was an API/CLI or just some app updates. Feels like not much has changed in a long time. I’d love to be able to get todos into it when I’m working on Cursor, or be able to read from it too.

@culturedcode You can bet it did. It was the app that made me really want to get a Mac, back in the 2010s. Several years have passed, and I’ve never stopped using either the Mac or Things.

@culturedcode It has made a huge difference. I organize everything through this now. One big difference is I immediately record anything that I want to later so I no longer forget things. Integration with Siri is great. I look at it everyday to plan what I will do.

@culturedcode Yes, been a user for 18ish years. I met the team at Macworld 2009! I recently moved to an obsidian second brain approach - perhaps something you guys could look at as it’s the first thing in all that time that made me switch. I still miss the design / elegance of things though.

@culturedcode I build apps myself, so what I notice about Things isn't its features — it's the ones it left out. No badges, no AI bolted on, no bloat. Just a quiet place for what matters. It's the product I point to when I explain what 'do one thing well' looks like. 😀

@culturedcode Been using it since grad school when you launched, now almost 20 years later I’m full professor. It has helped me organize my profession life from PhD to tenure to writing books and teaching my classes. Things is indispensable!
