Today’s #WeatherizationWednesday topic: solar gain. If your home is using a lot of energy to offset the heat from the sun, there are several easy ways to reduce solar gain. Options include adding shading through trees & blinds as well as applying glazing treatments on windows.

Windows are a crucial part of building weatherization, which is why it is the focus of this weeks #WeatherizationWednesday! Every window has a specific U-value (or thermal conductivity). The higher the U-value, the more heat that can transfer through the window.

The topic of this week’s #WeatherizationWednesday is occupant comfort. Did you know that there are designated temp ranges for indoor spaces? Relative humidity should always stay between 30-60% but indoor temperature requirements can vary based on heating/cooling needs.

Welcome to another #WeatherizationWednesday! This is a circuit breaker panel, which distributes electricity throughout the space. If a circuit is overloaded it can “trip”, which means that the system shuts off power to prevent overheating.
