CUPE Ontario's Executive Board and staff gathered this week to strategically plan for the year ahead on how we can continue to advance workers rights, fight austerity & privatization, and promote equity in everything we do! Enough is enough and now is the time to show it.

As of this week, library workers in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury have been on strike for three weeks – one of the longest library strikes in Ontario history. The reality in Bradford West Gwillimbury is that the library workers – who are almost all women – have been denied regular raises for years, while male-dominated departments and management have not. The $1.35 an hour they’re asking for is just a small step toward closing the massive gender pay gap in the town. That’s why we want to put on a huge show of strength by having as many folks come out to a rally next week outside of the Town Council meeting! WHERE: 125 Simcoe Road, Bradford, ON WHEN: Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 6PM Can’t make it to the rally? Send a message of solidarity here: cupe.on.ca/bwgplworkers/

Hop on the bus, Gus.. You don't need to discuss much.. except the privatization of health care - we should ALL be discussing that! No one should be able to buy their way to the front of the line. We want health care based on NEED, not the ability to pay! @CUPEOntario

Workers at the Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library voted almost unanimously to join CUPE in 2021. They are still trying to get a fair collective agreement from their employer – one that recognizes how the cost of living has skyrocketed over the last two years and the reality that half the library’s staff have left. After a marathon 18-hour day of bargaining that ended at 3:00 a.m. on Friday, July 21, library workers were left with no choice but to withdraw their labour and go on strike. Library workers want to get back to providing the programing and services the community relies on and loves. Send a message of support now: cupe.on.ca/bwgplworkers/
