We @TiogaCapital are deploying more than ever with a fresh fund (only 10% deployed) that is 2x larger than our 2 previous funds combined. Focus areas across pre-seed, seed, and series A: - RWA: we co-host @rwasummit every year and are among first & biggest investors in @maplefinance, @chaoslabs, @ChronicleLabs, etc. - Perps: we led the first rounds + series A of @Architect_Fi , led first round @extendedapp, were early on Hyperliquid and are active in the ecosystem; 2nd biggest ticket pre-seed @felixprotocol, one of the lead investors in @flyingtulip_ - Frontier tech x crypto (broad): quantum (led first round @shiftfdn), robotics (led seed round @BitRobotNetwork), AI agents If you’re building in any of these verticals, DMs are open. We lead or co-lead ~70% of the rounds where we invest.

The shift in the crypto fundraising landscape the past 6 months has been insane. Crypto VCs used to have to constantly be networking/writing/podcasting/going on spaces/promoting your thesis/getting on 10 deal flow calls a week, to get into good deals...now it's literally enough to just have capital to write checks. Deals are being pushed rather than dug out. Inbound if people know you have money is at an all-time high. Most firms are either 1) Out of money 2) Moved to Series A and beyond or 3) Fundraising (with no success). Deals that used to close in 2-3 weeks now close in 2-3 months. Firms with questionable business models or copy pasta of the latest trend are getting zero primary or follow-on funding (Good news!). There are now realistically <20 firms writing checks in pre-seed/seed. VCs basically have the pick of any deal they want, with more time to do DD. IMHO 25/26 are going to be historic vintages for those who stick around.

One vertical that also has been a big focus, and increasingly gets our attention, is privacy tech. We backed @nym @shiftfdn in this category already, and are on the lookout for teams who can make money, AI inference, browsing, and data storage private.

Cold outreach fails mainly because the recipient assumes “low credibility + high spam probability.” The objective is to signal real identity, real intent, and real stakes within seconds—without sounding defensive. Below are high-signal, creative ways to do that. ⸻ 1) Borrow Credibility (Fast Trust Injection) Anchor yourself to something already trusted. •Mutual connections “Spoke to X last week—he suggested I reach out.” •Shared environments Same university, company, event, niche Slack group, etc. •Public footprint Reference something verifiable: •“Saw your panel at [event]—especially your point on X.” Creative angle: Link to a specific timestamp in a podcast/video where you reference their idea. Shows real engagement vs generic flattery. ⸻ 2) Be Over-Specific (Kills the “mass email” feel) Generic = spam. Specific = human. •Mention a recent action (article, hire, launch, tweet) •Ask something non-obvious → Not “would love to connect” → Instead: “Curious why you chose X over Y in your last launch?” Creative angle: Include a 1-line micro-insight about their business: “Looks like your CAC likely spiked post your March campaign—wonder if you saw the same?” This flips you from taker → peer. ⸻ 3) Show Skin in the Game Legit people have something at stake. •State clearly: •What you do •Why this matters now •Avoid vague curiosity Weak: “Interested in learning more” Strong: “I’m working on [X], and your input directly affects how we deploy €500k in Q3.” Creative angle: Attach a mini deliverable upfront: •2-slide teardown of their funnel •Short Loom video with feedback •Data snippet relevant to them You become useful before asking anything. ⸻ 4) Make Yourself Verifiable in 2 Seconds Reduce friction to validate you. •Real name + clean signature •LinkedIn (with actual activity) •Website or portfolio •Company domain email (avoid Gmail if possible) Creative angle: Use a “proof line” instead of links overload: “Previously at [recognizable company]—worked on [specific project].” Or: “Built X → scaled to Y users → sold to Z.” ⸻ 5) Use Pattern Breaks (Human > Template) Most outreach looks the same. Break it subtly. •Short voice note instead of text •Personalized video (Loom) •Handwritten-style opening line Creative angle examples: •Subject line: “Quick thought on your Lisbon expansion (2 mins)” •First line: “This is not automated—I’ll keep it to 3 lines.” ⸻ 6) Signal Effort Disproportionately Early Effort = legitimacy. •Reference something obscure but relevant •Show you’ve spent time thinking about them, not you Creative angle: Build a tiny custom artifact: •Mock landing page improvement •New tagline suggestion •Competitor comparison snapshot Even 10 minutes of real effort stands out massively. ⸻ 7) Remove Pressure Completely Spam pushes. Legit people don’t need to. •Explicitly lower expectations: “If this isn’t relevant, ignore—no follow-up from me.” Creative angle: Give a useful takeaway with zero ask: “Even if we don’t speak: you might want to test X—should improve conversion on your pricing page.” ⸻ 8) Use Social Context (Without Bragging) Subtle signals > loud claims. •“Working with 3 companies in your space” •“Helping [type of company] solve X” Creative angle: Frame it as pattern recognition: “Seeing a recurring issue across 5 DTC brands—your setup looks similar.” ⸻ 9) Time It Around Real Events Timing boosts credibility. •After they: •Raise funding •Launch product •Hire key role Creative angle: “Reaching out now because timing actually matters for what I’m proposing.” ⸻ 10) End With a Sharp, Easy Ask Avoid vague CTAs. •Not: “Let me know your thoughts” •Instead: •“Worth a 10-min call this week?” •“Should I send the full breakdown?” Creative angle: Offer binary choice: “Useful if I send a short teardown, or not relevant?”

Getting a good number of DMs Advice if you do cold outreach: please craft your message in a way that it’s clearly not spam. If I’m not answering it’s because there’s not enough evidence for me to trust it.

Chronicle’s Proof of Asset has reached $5B in assets secured! What began as an initiative to target tokenized assets, in just one year since launch is rapidly approaching the size of our $8B TVL DeFi business. Wen flippening
