1. A few days ago, I wrote a thread about the pros and cons of staying on this platform and asked for your views. They were very helpful. As a result, I’ve decided to stop using X from January 20. Already I’m mostly posting now on BlueSky (@georgemonbiot.bsky.social) instead.🧵

My first day working @RamblersGB was seven years ago today! And I've recently started in a new role as the Director of England. I'm excited to be supporting work which will make a real difference to those with the least access and most barriers to walking. Onwards and upwards!

There are days when #Dartmoor reminds you what it’s good at! This how you can get turned around up on the hill and how quickly you can get ‘mazed’ or ‘pixie led’. Oddly enough we didn’t manage to gather the sheep today!!!

Was great to be interviewed for this @C4Dispatches investigation into the landed wealth of the royal Duchies of Cornwall & Lancaster! On Channel 4 tonight at 8.10pm:
Channel 4 Dispatches@C4Dispatches

The Royals make millions in profit each year, but this has always been shrouded in secrecy, until now. A joint @C4Dispatches and @thetimes investigation reveals that the King and Prince William are receiving public money through leasing property to public services like the NHS.

As context for the debate over Agricultural Property Relief, let's remember that: - Just 20 Dukes own almost 1 MILLION ACRES of Britain - Whilst 59% of farms in England are less than 123 acres (50ha) in size

This thread is the reason that posts and conversations about biodiversity and conservation are so important: 13,000 people liked a thread that is celebrating species extinction and environmental destruction. It’s just so disappointing.

The Victorians screwed us up in lots of ways - from attitudes to sex, to destroying Britain's uplands in the name of driven grouse shooting. Some dinosaurs can't let them go - but it's time we consigned grouse moors to the dustbin of history. ft.com/content/0cd407…

1) What a wonderful day of wildlife watching near Plymouth. To learn why the incredible bluefin tuna have migrated to UK seas and also much more, read this thread. It is vital to understand the reason for their recent appearance. See 2
