@channelramblr can you install any app on IOS regardless if Apple ever checked it or not?

@techdroider the term "sideloading" still very stupid, as someone that uses PCs since the 90s this is nothing more than just installing a program or app on your personal computer that you paid for, just because it is a portable computer (smartphone) does not change anything for me.

As expected, Google is making sideloading harder on Android… but it is NOT going anywhere Here's the new way in simple steps: • Turn ON Developer Mode in settings • Confirm no one is forcing you • Restart your phone and unlock again • Wait 24 hours, then verify with fingerprint / face / PIN • Now you can install apps (7 days or always) More steps, but you still have the choice

Seriously. I ain’t no Apple fanboy I daily drive an Android; and I really really want to use a dual screen laptop like the Asus wherever it’s called. But … windows sucks, man.
Hardware Canucks@hardwarecanucks

Windows Apologists need an attitude readjustment. The problem isn't specs. It's the OS What's the use of better hardware if the software is a bloated, unoptimized mess, shitting the bed in a new way after every update? That's why the Neo "feels" so fast: extreme optimization.

@Techjunkie_Aman The situation is so bad that Xiaomi allegedly not only pushed a emergency upgade but also will recall devices to reflashed it so people get the exploit removed out of the box. Those Oems are all ridiculous trying to destroy freedom

Android bootloader restrictions just took a hit. A new exploit chain targeting Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 devices can unlock bootloaders that OEMs heavily restricted. The issue lies in Qualcomm’s bootloader implementation on Android 16 devices. How it works: • ABL loads the Generic Bootloader Library (GBL) from the efisp partition • the bootloader only checks if it’s a UEFI app • it does NOT verify authenticity This means unsigned code can be executed during the boot process. But writing to efisp normally isn’t allowed. So the exploit chains another oversight: fastboot set-gpu-preemption 0 androidboot.selinux=permissive This flips SELinux from Enforcing to Permissive. Once SELinux is permissive, other vulnerabilities can write a custom UEFI payload that sets: is_unlocked = 1 is_unlocked_critical = 1 Which effectively unlocks the bootloader. Already demonstrated on: • Xiaomi 17 series • Redmi K90 Pro Max • POCO F8 Ultra All powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. More devices could be affected depending on their OEM bootloader implementation. Source: Android Authority

@Wvisioncreation @APPL1059948 sure, car dealers are out there making sure you do not change anything in the engine of the car you bought...it is not about giving more software, it is about locking it so you cant mess with it and enable it for example, its like the car dealer prohibit people to install a turbo

Open the hood? You pay for car software, and more options mean more payment. I think you haven't bought new cars in a long time. But in general, again, any company offers an option for their top flagship, like the iPhone Pro Max, not for the base model, because of the different prices. Pay more to get more; they are a profitable business. I am not defending them but this how any business is running

Samsung moving away from Odin / Recovery Samsung will rely on Android Verified Boot and Samsung Knox, which create a strict chain of trust from power-on to system boot so only authentic firmware can run. So removing those modes helps strengthen security (more Apple-style protection), lets seamless updates handle things like cache maintenance automatically, limits firmware leaks, and makes rooting or firmware downgrades much harder, which also means a stolen device becomes far less useful. In many ways, One UI is slowly shifting from the old open playground into a more controlled ecosystem.

Oh my god! Samsung has disabled the odin mode. Has Samsung gone crazy?

@Wvisioncreation @APPL1059948 yeah sure, good that you know you "not helping anyone". keep saying this is a good thing and be happy with companies controlling your device. If it wasnt for root I couldnt even use my telephoto lens of the phone I bought with my money in third party apps cuz it is locked by OPPO

@cuscuz_tech @APPL1059948 I am not helping anyone; I am just telling you what's going on. No OEMs will give you anything for free, and that's what I don't like, but it is what it is. It’s business

congrats, all android users will get more restrictions because of guys like this, defending closing down android (bootloader/root) just like Apple means you buying something that is not fully yours, you wont be able to install whatever you want on your own device very soon
W@Wvisioncreation

@Chaitan14103982 Yes, for sure, Apple's top-selling flagship on Earth means people like that closed ecosystem. End of debate.

@Wvisioncreation idk what is more ridiculous, brands doing this type of stuff or people actually defending it lol, a phone is a just a computer, you should have full access to what you bought no matter what, install anything you want, delete anything you want.

@shrav_10 There are many ways of writing the same thing, I can write: 265.14285714285 or I can write 32×58÷7 which will give me the same number if you calculate it, this is the point, the RAW number you can use it, the other "zipped" is smaller but need to be calculated to use "unpack"

Quick question: 10GB file -> 3GB after zip. No data lost. So was the original file wasting 7GB?

Sadly Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi does NOT have cloud processing for M3 and M9. This is a big deal as the additional processing is kind of a game changer. Hopefully @Xiaomi @XiaomiJapan @leijun will correct this 💯
