@dvassallo @tiggreen Thank you very much for your answer. In my opinion, as for the long term, e-mails are much worthy than the pre-orders. Just like you said pre-orders may not always be the best way to go.

@custmous @tiggreen You can, but l think fewer people will be willing to pre-order if the date appears to be too far out. And the risk is that a lack of pre-orders could be discouraging (and maybe a missed opportunity to collect emails).

If I want to sell a content-based product online should I set a "pre-order page w/ payment" or "collect emails page" before I launch?
What are the tradeoffs here? 🙏

@tiggreen On the other hand, I got $5K in pre-orders, which was nice and encouraging. But you should also consider whether not getting any pre-orders (a very plausible possibility) would discourage you (it shouldn’t). 2 months after release, pre-orders amount to only 8% of my total sales.

The most productive software engineer I ever worked with used a baseline Macbook, simple Atom configuration, no extra monitor, no ext keyboard/mouse, no standing desk, and his screen was always covered in smudges. I'll always remember this.

The word “unit” in “unit-testing” usually just means “small”. Other than that, the word has no agreed definition. Some TDDers call them micro-tests to stress the smallness. I prefer “programmer tests” because, using TDD, they are written by programmers for programmers.
