Highlights from another undefeated weekend for the 17U UAA team at the RYZE Hoops Showcase! With a good win over an EYBL program, this team continues to find ways to win moving to 10-2 on the season and having multiple guys step up throughout the weekend! #uabasketball ⭐️

Y'all, the last game of the Adidas Shootout Classic at Riverdale HS was the best game of the weekend. Featured a clash between Ensworth and Stewart Creek. There was a buzz all day about this one, and it certainly lived up to the hype, needing OT to decide the winner. It was a back-and-forth heavyweight battle from the opening tip till the final buzzer. Momentum swings throughout. Clutch shooting, timely shot making, and highlight reel finishes again and again. Stewart Creek grabbed the early first-quarter lead behind the hot shooting and electric speed of #11 Sean Goggins @Sean_Goggins. No one could stay in front of him as he dropped 9 first-quarter points in a 15-11 frame. But Ensworth had some determination and grit in them and wouldn’t fade as Cutler Smith @cutlersmith12 answered in the 2nd quarter with 8 pts of his own, bringing the rain from deep. Yet Stewart Creek did just enough to hold a 30-27 lead at the half. The third delivered more back-and-forth action, but none bigger than freshman guard Kenneth “Ja’Ray” Tyler, who found his groove for 8 points in the quarter by raining in a couple of big triples. Still, Stewart Creek maintained a slim 46-43 lead after three. Then came the fourth quarter, which kept the crowd on the edge of its seat as the battle on the floor reached another level, filled with can-you-match-this buckets on both ends. Ensworth lost Cutler Smith to fouls on physical action underneath the boards, a moment that could have tilted the game, but the resilient Ensworth group refused to fold. Balanced scoring and a massive three by #4 gave Ensworth one final chance, sending the game to overtime tied 60-60. Over time came down to execution, missed opportunities, turnovers, and missed free throws by Ensworth ultimately sealed their fate. Stewart Creek capitalized in those moments and escaped with a 71-69 overtime win. Unofficial scorers: Stewart Creek Sean Goggins @Sean_Goggins finished with 24 pts London Nelson @nelsonlondon98 finished with 13 pts Jaylen Stegall @JaylenStegall1 finished with 13 pts Dax Howard @DaxHoward44 with 11 points Ensworth Ja’Ray Tyler finished with 21 pts (6 threes) Cutler Smith @cutlersmith12 finished with 19 pts (5 threes) Steven Sherman @Sherrmannn finished with 16 pts and an insane windmill throw down that ignited the gym. This game delivered everything that had been building all day. The energy never dipped, the pressure never let up, and both teams emptied the tank until the very last possession. A true classic that matched the hype, rewarded everyone in the building, and stamped itself as the best game of the weekend.

My second highlighted game of the Adidas Shootout Classic at Riverdale HS delivered a lively clash between Ensworth and East Hamilton, and it came out swinging from the jump. Ensworth grabbed early momentum and carved out a 19-15 edge, playing fast and confident, but East Hamilton answered just enough to stay within reach. The second quarter belonged to Ensworth. They turned up the heat, pushed the pace, and built a commanding 36-23 halftime lead behind the hot shooting of @cutlersmith12, who had 11 points before the break and set the tone with fearless shot making. East Hamilton refused to fade. They stormed out of the locker room in the third on a mission, hitting shot after shot and chipping away until it was a tight 59-50 game. Every possession felt heavy as Ensworth kept just enough space with timely buckets. Big shots from Cutler and steady answers from Steven Sherman helped them withstand the constant pressure, and gritty defensive activity down the stretch finally sealed the 77-66 win. Cutler finished with a game-high 21 points, Sherman followed closely with 20, and East Hamilton was powered by #12 @corbin_mayes12, who kept the fight alive with 16 points. Ensworth showed how quickly they can stack points with speed and athleticism, while East Hamilton proved they can light it up and do serious damage when they catch a rhythm.
