I'v been heads down in building a foundation for how apps should made in the future. TLDR: Apps are ephemeral, created on the spot to solve a problem right now. What needs to remain is the data

Can't deny that I also built Rool to be a powerful alternative to ChatGPT, made in Europe Rool is the perfect foundation for building connected AI-powered apps, but it is also a chat with a powerful memory. Research, edit images, and collaborate with other users into a Rool

@ylecun Trump's pet-eating claims are ridiculos, and its useful to hear that he thinks these things. What I really dislike, is when people attemt to use law to shut him up or punish him for his views. Chomsky got it right. You don't

I'm old enough to remember that in France in the 1960s and 1970s, far-right chauvinists were accusing Portugese immigrants of eating cats. It's an old trope. Today, making such an accusation publicly against an ethnic group violates laws against "incitement to racial hatred" in most of Europe. You may get sued, get a fine, and get blocked from running for office. Elon and other American 1st Amendment maximalists will scream "tyranny!" But anti-hate speech laws are the way European countries have learned to protect themselves against fascist takeovers. And they sure know what they're talking about.

I just tried OpenAI o1. I wanted to test its ability to reason about a genuinely new scientific idea. Although it was fun, it illustrated to me that o1 still can't think outside the box in the way that is needed to generate genuinely new understanding. The conversation was about panpsychism. I asked o1 to help me think about how hypothetical proto-consciousness features of elementary particles could be formulated to explain particle properties that are otherwise considered fundamental, such as mass, spin, or charge. proto-consciousness -> mass, spin, charge, etc In it's response, it kept falling back to wanting to derive proto-consciousness from fundamental principles, rather than the other way around, implicitly falling into emergentist reasoning. So, o1 is certainly great at exploring current human knowledge, but I doubt it is useful for generating new knowledge in the true sense of the word. Human creativity, inspiration, and genius still have a role to play - at least for now.

@stats_feed Just like the last time you posted this overview, let me point out that the Danish flag, known as the Dannebrog, is first indisputably attested in the Gelre Armorial around 1350, although written sources claim it had been in use earlier.

Freedom of speech is the right to express opinions and ideas without fear of censorship, retaliation, or legal consequences. It is a human right that is protected by several international agreements, including:  United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Article 19 of this declaration protects the right to freedom of opinion and expression. It also includes the right to seek, receive, and share information and ideas through any media.
 Human Rights Act
Article 10 of this act protects freedom of expression in the UK. It includes the right to hold and share opinions, as well as to communicate and express oneself in any medium.
Freedom of speech is also protected in the United States by the First Amendment, which was adopted as part of the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights was a response to concerns that the Constitution placed too much power in the federal government

@ylecun @elonmusk It would very much serve US democracy well to prohibit electronic voting and go back to paper ballots - just like we in Denmark It is not anti-tech, it is just one of those areas where efficiency is a distant second to trust and transparency.

@elonmusk In any event, if illegal votes from noncitizens push Democrats over the top in this election, they’ll nuke the filibuster next year and pass the legislation that strips states of their authority over elections anyway. Now is the time to stand and fight this. Not later.
